The move to the University of Southern California is complete. Thanks to Stanford and CalTech Earth Sciences for hosting us over the years. QCN is now supported by IRIS (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology) and the SCEC (Southern California Earthquake Center) based at USC. You may want to "Remove Project" and then re-attach directly to our new BOINC project address http://quakecatcher.net

Thx for quick turn! If one has forgotten password, web browser might be used to visit old site and see if browser has remembered it, or if password can be retrieved from account info.

That should be done before Remove Project, via BOINC Manager, which does seem to be necessary. One can then Add Project, choose Quake Catcher Network, but change the Project URL to: http://quakecatcher.net/sensor

Is there possibly a full article on this move? I would love to do something for it on my sciencesprings blog.

Hi, I imagine someone from IRIS or USGS or SCEC will weigh in on an official announcement or press release - they're the organizations taking over QCN and paying for things now that our old Stanford NSF grant is up. You can probably contact Danielle Sumy or Robert de Groot on our "About Us" page. http://quakecatcher.net/about-qcn/contact-us

Did the sister sites change at all?

Hi Carl. I attached my hosts through BOINCstats/BAM. Will it work for me to just uncheck my attached hosts, sync the hosts, and then attach again?

Hi, I suppose BAM doesn't have this new address ie quakecatcher.net yet? The old site addresses should be forwarding here anyway by now.

To the other poster - I'm not sure what you mean "sister sites" - I guess the old QCN installations in Taiwan, Mexico etc? Those projects ran out of funding long ago and are not supported ie they are on their own.

Willy has updated the URL in BOINCstats and BAM, not only should your hosts get the new address, stats will be ready when the project starts updating/exporting again.

Some of my SETI.Germany teammates noticed they received credits from QCN lately. All my pending workunits habe been validated and granted as well. Thank you!

Does that mean that the project QCN is being maintained again after the move to the new location? Are there new plans for the future? Sorry if there is already a news I might have missed.

hi, there's no official news yet but it seems that QCN will live on at USC supported by the IRIS, SCEC, and USGS organizations. I think they'll post something officially soon ie press release etc.

I see the same behavior on BOINCstats, but in the last 3 days the new WUs to do assign credits again, on all my 3 sensors, seems that this starts with the release of new 8.07 version:
http://quakecatcher.net/sensor/results.php?hostid=8833

but this append also on my raspberry that haven't an upgrade:
http://quakecatcher.net/sensor/results.php?hostid=25326

moreover on an XP PC seems it can't donwload the new version:

20/06/2016 22:48:03 | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/quakecatcher.net_sensor/qcn_8.07_windows_intelx86__nci.exe

20/06/2016 22:48:03 | Quake-Catcher Network | Backing off 03:55:50 on download of qcn_8.07_windows_intelx86__nci.exe

do anyone see the same problems ?

you may want to "Reset Project" on the Windows XP machine? I only made new versions (version number > 8.00) for Windows 32 & 64-bit and Mac 32- and 64-bit and Android. I won't be able to make new versions for Raspberry Pi or Linux.

I reset the project and got the same error:

22/06/2016 08:50:05 | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/quakecatcher.net_sensor/qcn_8.07_windows_intelx86__nci.exe
22/06/2016 08:50:05 | Quake-Catcher Network | Backing off 00:03:52 on download of qcn_8.07_windows_intelx86__nci.exe

so I suspended the AVG antivirus reset again and works, so seems that AVG silent stops the download of new client. I'll try to create and exception.

I run AVG also and another PC/sensor but with win7 and see no problem about download.

Do you mean the re-crediting of the 22,000+ cr I lost the other week?

Or that WUs will once again be earning credit?
